Introduction
One of the most annoying aspects of being a bus passenger is that you never know why your bus has not arrived yet, nor how much time you still need to wait until it arrives. Now, thanks to intelligent bus information display systems, you can view real-time bus information while waiting for a bus at a bus stop.
Requirements
- Front-end communication computer for system mapping and station management
- USB Bluetooth for communication between bus stops and buses
- Built-in web server for real-time control and remote monitoring
- Easy development for system integration
- VGA display
- Built-in DI/DO to control station lights
System Solution
This bus information display system is managed by Moxa's V468 x86-based embedded computer. The V468 embedded computer installs bus timetables, bus routs, and a GPS time synchronization clock for system mapping. The V468 embedded computer and each bus are equipped with USB Bluetooth for communication. If a bus is within 10 meters, the embedded computer can determine which bus is arriving via the Bluetooth connection, and display the real-time information on the panel. If the bus is late, the remote control center can also inform the embedded computer over the GPRS modem to notify waiting passengers. Some bus stops may have temperature and humidity sensors (PT-100 protocol) that connect to an ioLogic Active Ethernet I/O device, which itself is managed by the embedded computer over the Ethernet LAN. The V468 features 8+8 DI/DOs for controlling station lights. The bus station is supplied by solar energy, and the V468 runs on the 9 to 36 VDC power supply provided by the solar power system.
